You Are Loved

Here's a very important thing to remember on Valentine's Day.

Remember that You Are Loved.

It's also important to remember on every other day of the year.

And especially when you are feeling lonely.

If you need someone to love you, there are always at least three people who care about you.

One is Jesus. He loves you and thinks you're amazing.

And then there’s me: I love you.

And, it goes without saying, the penguins on this site adore you.

And before you say “Naw aw,“ there are three of us (four if you include the baby penguin) and only one of you, so there. :-p

Isn't it nice to be loved by a penguin?

Always remember that You Are Loved.

Let's Have Tea

Just a cozy design for a grey winter day by the fire.

Turquoise teacup with steam and calligraphy 'Let's have tea'. A cozy cup of tea might be nice.
Let's share a cozy cup of tea together, shall we?

But herbal tea for me. Rooibos, preferably.

Or herbal chai spice with almond milk.

Or that fruity rooibos from that one coffee place, with coconut milk and a dash of caramel stevia.

That is like dessert in a cup.

mmmMMMMmmmmmm

Design Notes: Vintage Literary Diamonds

And now for something completely different... because: reasons.

Vintage Art-Deco inspired diamond pattern, inspired by text from a vintage book.
(Large) Vintage Literary Diamonds

So, I just submitted this design to the Spoonflower 1920's Design Challenge. I had hoped for design challenges that match my current penguine style, but the current lineup is 1920's, 1950's, 1960's, and then Victorian Era. :-\  I just couldn't figure out a time-sensitive way to fit some penguins into those categories. :-p

Voting begins today and ends Tuesday (August 14th), so quick, vote!

Vote Vote Vote!

No sign-up necessary to vote, so head over there and wade through hundreds of designs to find mine and vote for it! :-p

And maybe keep an eye on my Spoonflower Design Shop — If my design makes it to the top 50, then it automatically goes up for commissioned sales without any expense on my part. If I make it to the top 10, I'll receive some credits to fund the proofing of more designs! :-)

More info:

Spoonflower lets you upload your designs for customers to purchase on fabric, wallpaper, and wrapping paper. As of this writing, it costs $5 to proof a design (plus $1 shipping), and you get 10% commission. They're also partnered with Roostery, which offers home decor items.

Life Can Be Beautiful

Lying in a field of wildflowers is excellent for your inner child. Floral design by iva learns to fly.
Do you have memories of lying in a sunny field of wildflowers, beneath a brilliant blue sky?

If not, you're really missing out and ought to go find a field of wildflowers right now.

(Unless you have pollen allergies, of course.)

This is one of the best places to rest and allow your inner child to breathe.

To think random thoughts.

To feel like a kid again.

Try it; it could change your life.

Or you might at least get a nice nap that you've been needing for a while.

New Year: Bon Voyage

Because every new year is like a journey into the unknown. Welcome to the future! [My plans for creating a run-of-the-mill "Happy New Year" design were thwarted by the pressing need to rest my brain between holidays. So I did some creative therapy instead. A shout out to Owl City and worship music for keeping me alive while I am focusing so intently, because otherwise I would hold my breath and die of asphyxiation.]

Every new year is a journey into the unknown.

You may have your plans charted out. Or they may lie crumpled in a drawer, while you lie in your bunk with the covers over your head.*

But life hoists the sail without your participation, sometimes.

And as you set sail on this new adventure into the future, I declare a blessing over your journey:

May your soul be awakened to see the view with new eyes.

May your heart be strengthened by the thrill of joy.

May your body be invigorated by the passion of purpose.

May your spirit be exhilarated by a fresh sweep of wind in your sails, the breeze in your hair, and the sunlight on your face.

And may you find the hidden treasure that you are searching for.

Breathe that fresh new air. This is all new territory.

Welcome to the future!

* and by "you" I mean me.

Serious Designs: Stunning

Black on a cool, teal glow, a stunning bit of text for expressing one's amazement.

And here you can see the detail worked into the letters: A collection of amazement-expressing words. It's astonishing how many words a thesaurus has. I don't think I duplicated any of them, and there were quite a few more to choose from.

A cool glow over dark grey; a stunning bit of text for expressing one's amazement.

With enough incentive, and few enough images on the web that say what I want them to, I can be induced to create Serious Designs.

If I keep this up, I may outgrow this site and need to create a Serious Graphic Design site.

And that just sounds like too much work right now.

Tsk.

Because: Lunch.
